4RM, in collaboration with the dealer NextTrade LLC, implemented a project to fully equip a 460 m² supermarket in the urban settlement of Bolshaya Berestovitsa in the Grodno Region.
To effectively manage customer traffic and ensure efficient zoning, the 4RM team developed a detailed planogram for the placement of equipment in the sales area, taking into account the specific characteristics of the space. In addition to developing the planogram, the team provided ready-made delivery and installation of retail equipment and proposed a navigation system organized by product categories.
Modern retail and refrigeration equipment was selected for the store, taking into account key requirements such as maintaining product freshness, ease of merchandising, and a comfortable shopping experience for customers.
To maximize space efficiency, a combined layout of shelving systems was proposed, specifically wall shelving, freestanding shelving, and bread racks.
Installing wall shelving along the perimeter of the store allowed for the efficient use of vertical space and freed up usable floor space.
Special attention was given to the area with dense, heavy merchandise—the beverage section. Under high weight loads, standard structures are prone to deformation; therefore, shelving units with an additional upright were used here. This upright transfers the weight, significantly increasing the strength, stability, and overall safety of the equipment, even when the shelves are fully loaded.
The central part of the store consists of island shelving. Thanks to two-sided access, this solution allows for the efficient use of retail space. Island-style shelving arranges merchandise conveniently for both staff and customers and provides flexibility in changing the product layout.
Depending on the product categories, the island shelving is equipped with specialized engineering solutions:
To maintain the impeccable appearance of candies, cookies, and other sweets and to comply with sanitary standards, specialized confectionery shelves are installed, complete with transparent glass barriers and dividers. They hold pre-packaged and weight-based goods, ensuring perfect visibility of the entire product range.
The modules in the fruit and vegetable section feature an open design with access from all sides. Shoppers can comfortably approach the products from any side without creating “traffic jams” in the aisles, while staff can easily restock. The cladding, featuring decorative metal panels with wooden slats, creates an aesthetically pleasing design and highlights the freshness of the fruits and vegetables.
The base of the layout was a “guided traffic flow” concept. To ensure high foot traffic throughout all departments, the bread section is located at the farthest point of the sales area. This solution encourages customers to walk through the entire store, thereby increasing the number of impulse purchases.
The bakery section is equipped with specialized shelving units featuring slanted baskets, which provide an ideal view of the baked goods. A key design feature of this equipment is the side rails, which securely hold the products in place and completely prevent them from rolling off.
To equip the supermarket's refrigeration area, multidecks and serve-over counters were installed, unified under a single cohesive design concept.
Jupiter Solaris multidecks were arranged in a single continuous line for displaying preserves, dairy, meat products, fruits, and vegetables. The equipment maintains the precise temperature class required for each product category. In this model, the evaporator is located on the back wall, ensuring even cold air distribution across the entire display height and simplifying future servicing. Equipping the cases with energy-saving doors minimizes heat loss and significantly cuts the store’s energy consumption.
For an impactful display of cured meats and sausages, the multidecks are fitted with specialized hanging rails with hooks. The LED lighting can be selected based on the product type — for example, a special pink light spectrum is used for meat and sausages to highlight their natural freshness, rich color, and appetizing look.
Diona Solaris serve-over counters featuring a sleek cubic design were installed in the counter service area to display deli items, cheeses, and prepared meals. This model stands out with its maximized display area — the wide refrigerated surface allows a broad range of products to be presented on a single module. Professional ergonomics ensure easy restocking and comfortable operation for staff, while optimized airflow gently cools products across the entire surface to prevent drying out.
The confectionery section, featuring island solutions for candies and cookies, is logically complemented by the Elissa Solaris refrigerated display case designed for storing and presenting chilled pastries, cakes, and desserts. Its tall profile combined with multi-level display tiers, panoramic glazing, and transparent shelves creates a "weightless" visual effect. Products remain clearly visible, focusing customer attention on desserts and driving impulse purchases.
Durable anti-corrosion materials, energy-efficient compressors, and high-grade thermal insulation ensure stable performance even under heavy foot traffic. The modular design enabled seamless adaptation to the store layout and efficient use of retail floor space.
The checkout area was designed to accommodate high customer traffic during peak hours. The key objective was to ensure maximum service speed and ergonomic working conditions for cashiers.
To address this, Nova checkout counters were selected, featuring wide cash basins, tabletops, acrylic scanner guards, cash boxes, and expandable queue barriers. The ends of the checkout counters are made from a combination of stainless steel and impact-resistant profiles. This minimizes mechanical damage and extends the equipment’s service life.
Specialized cigarette dispensers, designed in the same style as the checkout area, are installed next to the checkout counters.
They allow for a wide product assortment, make restocking shelves convenient thanks to their full-extension drawers, and save time with synchronized curtain opening.
In addition to the retail fixtures, accent lighting and promotional signage are used to boost sales and draw shoppers’ attention to products.
As a result of the project, the supermarket received a space that is fully ready for operation. Functional zoning, high-quality retail fixtures, well-designed lighting, and wayfinding ensure that products are presented effectively and provide a comfortable environment for both staff and customers.
