Digital retail - from hardware to intelligence
At the exhibition and as part of the business program of the Trade Dialog forum 4RM presented its approach to digital transformation - from PoC to scalable digital architecture. Both classic equipment for trade and urban environments as well as AI-based products, implementation scenarios, digital trade and infrastructure management models were demonstrated.
"A digital store is not an isolated object, but an element of the urban infrastructure. From the checkout to the post office, everything should work as a unified network," says Alexander KORIK, 4RM's development director.
The concept that 4RM realizes goes beyond the production of equipment. Every device - from checkout to post office - becomes an element of the digital ecosystem. In this approach, software is not secondary, but defining: it connects hardware, analytics, customer behavior and business objectives into a single architecture.
The key transformation is in the logic of the products. Where checkouts or scales used to be separate devices, today they act as “digital nodes” capable of recognizing, reacting and integrating.
Developed by 4RM's IT team, the STEMMA platform has become the center of the ecosystem. It is the basis for the development of products based on neural networks and computer vision technologies working in key areas:
STEMMA Recognition - AI service for instant product recognition at self-service checkouts and self-service checkout systems, designed for seamless integration with any SSC and VSO. Utilizes computer vision and neural network technologies to identify products in real-time without the need for barcode scanning or manual entry. Supports a variety of product form factors including weight, piece and custom packaging.
STEMMA Stock - Intelligent shelf control and monitoring of out-of-stock situations. Utilizes video streams and computer vision algorithms to instantly detect display irregularities, missing SKUs and understocked shelves.
STEMMA Antifraud is a system to prevent theft and non-payment on the sales floor. Uses behavioral analytics, video and pattern recognition to detect suspicious activity.
STEMMA Customer - shopper behavior analytics. AI system visualizes heat maps, movement trajectories, attention zones, frequency of interaction
with products. It allows, based on analytics, to increase conversion to purchase and adapt merchandising to real behavioral patterns.
Digital architecture is not limited to stores. 4RM offers software and hardware to manage the entire cash register and logistics infrastructure:
SOVA - a set of hardware and software solutions designed to optimize operations in the checkout and self-service checkout area. SOVA software provides stable operation of trade scenarios, high adaptability to store requirements and deep integration with analytical and AI-modules of STEMMA platform;
LOCCA is a mailbox management software platform that integrates with logistics and retail systems. Provides real-time cell tracking, parcel distribution, load schedule management and integration with logistics platforms. Supports flexible interaction scenarios with couriers, shoppers and warehouses. Increases reliability and speed of click&collect transactions.
Retail is becoming a part of urban logistics: automatic pickup points, flexible delivery scenarios, stores without salespeople - and all this is not the future, but solutions that 4RM is already implementing in PoC (Proof of Concept) projects.
The shift to digital commerce is a response to fundamental changes:
4RM does not rely on individual innovations, but on an architectural approach in which everything is interconnected: hardware, AI, UX, logistics, analytics.
4RM pays special attention to localization of key solutions. The company is developing its own modules for the operating system of self-service scales and a bioptic scanner. Both projects are aimed at reducing dependence on technology imports while ensuring deep integration with the STEMMA ecosystem:
4RM's approach is systems thinking. It doesn't matter which element starts digitalization - AI checkout, mailbox or analytics - everything is built into a single architecture. This approach allows you to:
"It is not those with more resources who win, but those who act systematically. Now is the ideal window for digital transformation," says Alexander Korik.
